HIGH-PURITY WHITE DOLOMITE

Mineral Overview, Grades, and Industrial Applications

A VERSATILE WHITE MINERAL EXTENDER FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

Dolomite (CaMg(CO₃)₂) is a naturally occurring double carbonate mineral valued for its whiteness, hardness, and chemical stability. As an extender and functional filler, it is used in paints, coatings, polymers, ceramics, adhesives, construction materials, and more. Unlike pure calcium carbonate, dolomite’s magnesium content enhances mechanical strength, UV and weather resistance, and durability—particularly for exterior and industrial applications.

OUR DOLOMITE GRADES

We offer several particle size grades tailored to different end-use applications.

Use the guide below to find the right grade for your application.

DOL2 – Fine Grade White Dolomite

  • D50: 3.50 μm

  • Whiteness: 95

  • LOI: 45.2%

  • Applications: High-end coatings, sealants, ceramics, polymers

DOL5 – Medium-Fine Grade

  • D50: 5.15 μm

  • Whiteness: 95

  • LOI: 45.2%

  • Applications: Paints, wall putties, polymer compounds, plasters

DOL7 – Medium-Coarse Grade

  • D50: 7.30 μm

  • Whiteness: 95

  • LOI: 45.2%

  • Applications: Cost-effective bulk coatings, construction, adhesives

INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

Dolomite is used in a variety of sectors:

→ Paints & Coatings – Textured finishes, anti-corrosion primers, emulsion paints

→ Plastics & Polymers – Mineral filler for strength, UV resistance

→ Ceramics – White ceramics, glaze bases

→ Construction – Adhesives, joint compounds, tile grouts

→ Sealants & Putties – Enhanced body and flow control

While calcium carbonate is widely used as a cost-effective extender, dolomite provides distinct advantages in certain formulations:

Higher Hardness → Better Scrub & Abrasion Resistance: Dolomite increases the durability of the paint film, especially in textured and exterior paints, by reinforcing the coating structure.

Superior Weathering Resistance: Ideal for outdoor coatings, dolomite provides better resistance to UV degradation, moisture, and environmental wear than pure calcium carbonate.

Improved Film Strength & Texture Control: In coarse grades (10–45 microns), dolomite improves the texture effect, making it ideal for high-PVC architectural and decorative coatings.

Magnesium-Enhanced Stability: The presence of magnesium enhances chemical stability and resistance to acidic conditions—especially important in polluted or coastal environments.

Low Oil Absorption: Like calcium carbonate, dolomite requires less binder, helping optimize rheology while maintaining good binding strength to substrates.
